Machine learning in radio astronomy
Abstract: New, large astronomical facilities and in particular modern survey instruments are faced with the challenge of analyzing large, complex and multidimensional data sets. Machine learning methods help to address these challenges. I will give a short introduction, explaining why the use of ML in astronomy might differ from other fields of research, and subsequently, go through a number of examples where machine learning has been used in radio astronomy, trying to focus on cases which are relevant to research being carried out at Onsala Space Observatory.
