This course is part of the Masters Program Innovative and Sustainable Chemical Engineering, but can also be taken as a graduate student course. The course gives the opportunity to practice environmental systems analysis (especially life cycle assessment and environmental risk assessment) in projects connected to industrial activities. Applied, environmentally focused technology design and development is practiced in problem-based team work in project form. Topics are chosen from real problems occurring in chemical industry and research. Topics can be designed to shed light on important and urgent issues in the research projects of PhD students.
Basics in chemical environmental science and in environmental systems analysis (corresponding approximately to the level achieved in a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology). If some required knowledge is missing, students may make up for this through individual studies.
