Communication and Learning in Science was
created on 1 May 2017 when Chalmers’ libraries, Engineering Education Research,
Language and Communication and the doctoral courses in Generic and Transferable
Skills were merged. Our activities prepare students and researchers for
lifelong learning, the changing nature of working life, high employability and
the ability to make good use of knowledge both within and outside academia.
Part of our tasks involves running Chalmers’
library operations in compliance with the Swedish Libraries Act’s requirements
for a public research library. Consequently, CLS is responsible for issues
relating to Open Access and scientometrics/bibliometrics.
We are also required to function as an
educational hub and driving force at Chalmers. The aim is to develop a culture
of scholarship of teaching and learning characterised throughout by a
reflective approach and continuous improvement work. This will be done through
shared knowledge generation and continuing professional development.
