The Information Resources Division has 15 employees, mainly librarians. Our primary task is to purchase printed material and e-resources to ensure access to relevant information resources for Chalmers’ research, teaching and collaboration. We also staff the information desks at Chalmers’ three libraries and we administer interlibrary lending.
Roughly 99 per cent of the material we buy is digital, and 1 per cent is printed material. In 2018, there are just over 600 million information resources at Chalmers’ libraries. To ensure efficient, sustainable availability of these resources, our task is also to evaluate, maintain and change our stock.
The Information Resources Division also ensures access to the technical systems that manage access to and administration of the information resources such as search and library systems, administrative systems and interlibrary lending systems. Another of our tasks is to make it easy for staff and students to access the information resources.
