The Graphene Centre at Chalmers has concluded its establishment phase.
During the last years, the focus has been on utilization and innovation activities –building a portfolio of graphene research results at Chalmers, starting demonstrator and utilisation projects based on these results, and building relations with industry, e.g. the TIGR competence centre application to Vinnova.
The board of the centre expresses its sincere thanks to the director of the centre, Patrik Carlsson, for his efforts in this phase. Patrik Carlsson will take on other strategy and leadership tasks at Chalmers Industriteknik, including advocating Swedish graphene interests in European bodies.
The Graphene Centre will now build further on these achievements and focus on coordination and strategic development of Chalmers activities in graphene and related 2D-materials, involving research, education, utilization, and outreach. It also includes to develop our role and engagement in SIO-Grafen and the Graphene Flagship. The centre activities will build on the strong research at several departments and will be supported by the Areas of Advance at Chalmers.
The Graphene Innovation Laboratory (GIL) will be integrated in the centre as an infrastructure offering researchers in industry, institutes and academia access to high quality graphene as well as graphene preparation techniques.
Associate Professor Ermin Malic is appointed as new director for the Graphene Centre from September 1. To launch the new phase of the Graphene Centre at Chalmers researchers will be invited to a community building event later this fall to set the new direction for the centre and provide a forum for future collaboration. For further information, please contact Ermin Malic (email@example.com).
