CAM2 is pleased to be hosting the Alloys for Additive Manufacturing Symposium 2019 (AAMS2019) on 18-20 September 2019. This event continues a successful series of Europe-wide Additive Manufacturing workshops and symposiums which began at the Max-Planck Institute in 2016, followed by successful events hosted by EMPA in Switzerland in 2017 and MAPP in Sheffield in 2018. The symposium will be held over three days on 18-20 September, 2019, at the Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden.

This world-class event covers powder based metal additive manufacturing technologies [AM] which include a metallic phase and is divided into 5 themes over the two days, including:
  • Phase transformations in AM-produced alloys
  • Tailored alloys for AM
  • Powder for AM
  • Advances in AM processing
  • Structural control by design
All materials scientific issues pertaining to the additive manufacturing of metals, alloys and composites including a metallic phase, fall under the scope of the conference. This includes experimental and theoretical research on powder making, powder characterization and degradation during AM processing, in-process materials behavior, post-processing and the resulting materials properties. In particular contributions concerning the optimization of existing alloys for Additive Manufacturing processes and the design of new, tailor-made alloys are encouraged.

The Alloys for Additive Manufacturing Symposium aims to be a venue for the discussion of all these issues by researchers in academia and industry.
The symposium will also include one-day event on September 20th dedicated to research by PhD students in the field of alloys for Additive Manufacturing.
