About us

Centre for Additive Manufacture – Metal, CAM2 focus on material and process development for powder-based metal additive manufacturing (3D printing).

CAM2 is one of only thirteen Vinnova​ (innovation agency) funded competence centres in Sweden. In the competence centers, universities, research institutes, companies and public actors will conduct research in close cooperation in areas that are important for Sweden's competitiveness. The venture is part of the government's initiative regarding strategic collaborative programs.​


To bring powder based AM into industrial practice, enabling Swedish industry to employ cost-effective AM for manufacturing complex light-weight components with improved performance and functionality.


To increase the use of powder based AM for added-value components within a broad range of applications and industries.


To combine a set of critical research areas with a number of instruments as e.g. PhD and MSc projects, postdocs, education and mobility on different levels, etc.
The centre gathers industrial know-how in:
  • Powder development and manufacturing
  • Hardware: Powder Bed Fusion – Laser Beam (PBF-LB), Powder Bed Fusion – Electron Beam (PBF-EB), Binder Jetting (BJT) and powder-based Directed Energy Deposition (DED)
  • High-end manufacturing by additive manufacturing
  • Post-processing
