Abstrakt: Optical DNA mapping enables the direct visualization of DNA molecules and offers a unique perspective on their underlying genomic structure. It is a single molecule analysis technique in which fluorescently stained DNA molecules (ranging from 100 kb to 1 Mb in size) are stretched in nanofluidic channels to generate spatial intensity profiles called barcodes that represent the long-range genomic order in the DNA molecules. In this talk, I will explain the importance of optical DNA mapping in the context of genome analysis techniques. In addition, the application of this technique to bacterial identification and typing will be explored in detail.
