Tobias Fredberg is Associate Professor in the department of Technology Management and Economics at Chalmers University of Technology and the Division for Management of Organizational Renewal and Entrepreneurship - MORE, where he also earned his PhD. He is also a research leader within the FENIX Centre for Innovations in Management and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Information, Organisation and Management at the Technische Universität München, where he was a visiting research fellow during 2004 and 2005.

The research is in the field of strategic management and its cross-section to innovation management. It focuses on two related areas. The first regards the management of strategic change and the second managing cross-functionality to improve an organization’s ability to innovate and create improved customer experiences. Recently, work in this area has looked at the need to create strategic discussion in organizations and their impact on the ability to create alignment in the organization. Related to this issue of integration is a larger study of how large media organizations try to create cooperation and flows of ideas and innovations in their large, silo structured businesses. One rationale behind striving for cooperation is the possibility to create composite experiences consisting of different media, or meeting points between the company and the customer.

Tobias Fredberg currently supervises two PhD-students. As a consultant, he has worked with top management teams of firms in several different industries, including the health care, media and defence industries. He speaks and has taught in German, and is well-connected within the German academic setting. He has taught at the TUM Business School, the FH Salzburg and the Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
