Third Mission
Swedish Universities are obliged to pursue activities that enhance the probability that our research will have a societal impact by using mechanisms that go beyond those of teaching and publishing. This is a task that takes considerable time, and for which there is no University funding. Yet, RIDE members have a substantial ‘Third Mission’ activity, some of which is funded by RIDE.
Some examples of ‘Third Mission’ activities that RIDE researchers are involved in include:
- Lectures and seminars for policy makers (at various levels), firms, industry associations and other organisations
- Interviews in media (newspapers, TV, radio)
- Participation in working groups organized by policy makers and industry
- Plenary Speeches
- Advisory Boards
- Publishing of debate articles and popular science articles
- Active partner in discussion of policy concerns
- Extensive diffusion activities for policy makers and firms
Below you find some illustrative examples of ‘Third Mission’ activities of members of RIDE.
