RIDE Seed-money and Travel financing

The research projects within the RIDE Centre (2044-2009) addressed the effects of R&D and innovation on growth, renewal and structural transformation. Two key areas are addressed:

    1) Dynamics of Innovation Systems

    2) The Role of Actors: Firms and Universities

The RIDE Center was funded by VINNOVA, Chalmers University of Technology, and various research councils and agencies. The majority of research financing was from external research projects.

Seed-money and Travel Financing

In order to facilitate the identification of relevant new areas of research, a limited amount of the RIDE budget has been used for travel and seed-money financing, sponsoring new and potentially fruitful research initiatives. Thus, RIDE has offered an opportunity of seed financing a few potential new research projects each year. The ambition of a seed-financed new RIDE project has been to attract further external financing. Seen from a dynamic perspective, each research area is envisioned to attract additional research and projects.

RIDE has during its six years financed 9 new seed financing projects and has awarded 32 travel grants (12 to master students, 10 to PhD students and 10 to senior researchers).
