Research
RIDE is a research center, consisting of people and activities devoted to analyzing the linkages between R&D, Innovation and the Dynamics of Economies. In the coming years, we look forward to the new challenges facing us. We will focus on two Key Research Areas: 1) Dynamics of Innovation Systems 2) The Role of Actors: Firms and Universities The two Key Research Areas address the effects of R&D and Innovation on growth, renewal and structural transformation. Our research directly deals with many issues that are fundamental to understanding innovation systems, R&D and growth. We have addressed major debates such as academic entrepreneurship, the role of large firms in industrial renewal, structural change in the economy, public policy role in developing alternative fuels, and sustainability. Our results have made head-ways in terms of theory and concepts, methodology and implications for decision-makers. The research has also led to directly useful knowledge at times.
• In terms of measuring effects, we will work to explain, diffuse and improve our innovation-based understanding of how R&D, science, technology and innovation are related to growth, transformation and renewal. • In terms of research, RIDE is now focusing upon two Key Research Areas instead of four. • In terms of policy relevance, we will continue to be highly relevant to societal debates. • In terms of people, RIDE is expanding. In terms of critical mass, we will also draw upon complementary activities in the environment. • In terms of strategies for improving the center, we will work to create impact, identity and visibility for our activities and research results.
