 • Visiting researchers at University of Gothenburg, School of Business, Economics, and Law

Sharmistha Bagchi-Sen is a visiting professor during 18-29 May at the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, with her visit supported through the RIDE network. Sharmistha Bagchi-Sen is Professor of Geography, University at Buffalo-State University of New York (SUNY-Buffalo).

Rick Middel, Assistant Professor, University of Twente School of Management and Governance, Department of Operations, Organization and Human Resources  will visit the RIDE node at Gothenburg University the week 25-29 May.

• Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship - Opening ceremony

The RIDE node at GU is now part of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which formally opens on 1 June 2009. The Institute is bringing together a critical mass of ideas, resources and people in the ares of innovation and entrepreneurship, including people from the School of Business, Economics, and Law and from Sahlgrenska Academy (the medical faculty). Prof. Maureen McKelvey is Director of Research, and her group on Innovation & Industrial Management is incorporated. See more at http://www.handels.gu.se\iie

 

• Management and Economics of Innovation

At the RIDE node at Chalmers’ Department of Technology Management and Economics there is a continued high number of applications for the Master’s Programme “Management and Economics of Innovation”. There will be a strong competition for the 65 places available to Swedish and international students.

• Book on life sciences

Jens Laage-Hellman, Maureen McKelvey and Mattias Johansson have recently completed a study of the long-term effects of collaborative public policy on research and industry matters for understanding how economic growth can be stimulated. This VINNOVA book is entitled 'Analysis of chain-linked effects of public policy: Effects on research and industry in Swedish life sciences within innovative food and medical technology.' The work has been done at IMIT, with links to several nodes at the RIDE network.

• IMIT 30 year jubilee

In March RIDE representatives were involved in IMIT’s 30 year jubilee, which was celebrated during two days in Gothenburg with presentations, seminars and round-table discussions on topics like ”Strategic Management of Innovation and Technology” and ”Trends and Future Challenges in Innovation and Technology Management”. The event attracted a number of participants from industry and academia.

 

• RIDE node at University of Gothenburg

The RIDE network is undergoing further transformations. The GU node is part of the new Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This institute is an initiative from University of Gothenburg supported by the Stena foundation. The institute will be a hub for research, education and collaboration in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. The institute will be an integrated part of the Gothenburg University innovation system by supporting innovation and entrepreneurship processes.
