Sudharsan Vasudevan is a PhD student at the division of fluid dynamics. His research is within computational heat transfer. Improved accuracy in prediction of nucleate boiling and surface structure impact on convective heat transfer is crucial for development of precision cooling strategies in general and in the automotive industry in particular. Using precision cooling reduces the need for excessive cooling and leads to energy saving when cooling batteries, electric motors and combustion engines. In combustion engines it has a direct impact on the CO2 reduction. Since September 2017 he is working on his PhD-project entitled ‘Precision cooling for CO2 reduction’. This work primarily involves development of numerical methods for accurate prediction of local heat transfer in a combustion engine coolant jacket environment.
