Kenneth D Eason was born inKent,Englandin 1942. He graduated as B Tech fromBrunelUniversityin 1968 and received his PhD from Loughborough University of Technology in 1981. Since 1989 he is professor in Cognitive Ergonomics and head of the Department of Human Sciences atLoughboroughUniversity. He is also head of the Human Sciences and Advanced Technology (HUSAT) Research Institute working on human issues of information technology.
Kenneth D Eason has devoted a 20 year research career to the study of the organisational impact of information technology in manufacturing and office applications. He has been particularly concerned with the performance of socio-technical systems in which teams of people work with and through integrated technical systems. On three occations he has received the Ergonomics Society Bartlett Medal for research contributions to ergonomics. Professor Eason is also an advocate of socio-technical design, in which the interdependence och technical design and organizational change is explicitly recognized in the design process.
