Suggested framework for designing platform independent, high fidelity, physical system models

This report is presenting a platform independent way of working when designing multi domain systems suitable for simulations. By breaking down models into metadata it is shown how this can increase the reusabilty by having models from the Simscape format translated into the Modelica format. Flow mediums are introduced in order to increase the fidelity in the connections between different components in a system. Both the metadata and flow mediums are then used for designing systems using a matrix structure where components and their connections can be modified in a flexible manner. To prove the concept the driveline of a hybrid car is used as a working example, where a system is designed, then ported and simulated in both the Simscape and OpenModelica format.
