Advanced fatigue and fracture analysis
- Kurskod: FTME090
- ECTS-poäng: 7,5
- Institution: MEKANIK OCH MARITIMA VETENSKAPER
- Periodicitet: Kursen ges normalt vart tredje år.
- Undervisningsspråk: Kursen kommer att ges på engelska
- Nordic Five Tech (N5T): Kursen är kostnadsfri för doktorander från N5T-universitet
The course sets out from a recapitulation of "classic" fatigue design with emphasis on different fatigue phenomena and key influencing parameters both from a solid mechanics' and a materials' perspective.
Subsequent sections include
- in-depth discussion on contact mechanics phenomena with connections to multiaxial fatigue, tribology etc.
- fatigue testing including statistical issues
- in-depth discussions on crack growth prediction including complications with numerical simulations, large-scale plasticity, small crack growth, influence of overloads and material deformation etc.
- overview of other topics such as
- ultra high cycle fatigue
- vibration fatigue and random fatigue
- corrosion fatigue
- creep fatigue
It is fairly open to adjust the focus (and partly the scope) of the course to fit needs and interests of the participants. More information Examination will be in the form of assignments. In addition, each participant is expected to give a lecture on a selected topic with relevance for her/his on-going research. Estimated 10 times 4 hours lectures.
Course literature will be selected scientific papers / book extracts.
