The SUREBridge consortium invites interested parties to a workshop
to introduce the concept and show the results of numerical and experimental work performed in the project and demonstrate the potential of this method for strengthening and repair of existing concrete bridges. The workshop aims at creating a platform for engineering offices, road authorities and bridge owners to meet, interact and discuss future opportunities in the field.The workshop will be held on 1st September 2017 between 9:00-16:00 and hosted by the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology.

present time, road authorities and bridge owners stand before many
challenges that need to be tackled to meet the present demands on
increasing service requirements (i.e. increasing axel loads),
sustainability, resource efficient maintenance, etc. The Increasing
number of old and deteriorated bridges on the one hand and limitations
in financial resources for maintenance of bridges on the other, call for
more effective, cost efficient and less disruptive strengthening and
SUREBridge, is a funded project within the Infravation programme which is co-funded by funding partners of the ERA-NET Plus Infravation and the European Commission under FP7. It intends to introduce a new concept for strengthening and repair of deteriorated concrete bridges. The concept takes advantage of advanced fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) materials as reinforcement components to restore the capacity of weakened bridge superstructures. The concept includes the installation of tailor-made GFRP deck panels on top of the exiting concrete deck and strengthening of the slab/girders using pre-stressed CFRP laminates in the tensile parts.
