NMR diffusometry course

September 24-28 (full days), 2012

For PhD students (3hp) and other researchers
at the Swedish NMR Centre in Göteborg

The purpose of this course is to provide users with tools to prepare, acquire, and process NMR diffusion experiments. NMR diffusometry is a non-invasive method where the experimentally determined self-diffusion coefficients are directly related to lateral molecular displacement. The displacement, or self-diffusion, is the fundamental form of molecular transport. The study of self-diffusion can reveal information about, not only intrinsic molecular mobility, but also intermolecular dynamics, motional restriction, association phenomena, and structural changes.

This intensive course includes lectures, seminars, and exercises. The lectures cover the most important NMR theory with regard to diffusometry. Practical problems are studied and discussed in the seminars and exercises. Focus is to learn the method and we will run many diffusion experiments, working in small groups but also together using a projector screen.

The course is both for you with no practical NMR experience and for you who already are dedicated NMR-spectroscopists. The course is free of charge. Please register by email before the  3rd of September.
