Optimizing support systems for marine operations

Kongsberg Maritime will study how people make decisions during demanding and advanced marine operations, particularly under stress. The Maritime Human Factors Group at Chalmers Shipping and Marine Technology is part of the project called the SITAWARE-project.

Award for best paper

Mats Nordin, industrial graduate student at Shipping and Marine Technology, has been awarded David Goodrich prize for the best paper published at the 2011 Warships Conference. He will receive a price fromThe Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).

On May 20 Gothenburg will arrange a day, open for the public, full of  of exiting maritime activities  Explore life under and above the water and on the shorelines. Visit ships and boats, join excursions or learn more about sustainable fishing.

Open House at Chalmers Department of Shipping and Marine Technology. There will be a range of activities to the public- experiments and impressions in our Bridge Simulator and our Maritime Center (Sjösäkerhetscentrum), speed dating with our scientists, exhibition and much more.

The maritime industry collaborating in establishing a unique trainee programme

Lighthouse and the maritime industry have announced a trainee programme for Naval Architect graduates from Chalmers University of Technology and the Royal Institute of Technology. Admissions in the form of employment are planned to begin in the autumn 2012.

The Twenty-Ninth Symposium on Naval Hydrodynamics will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, during the week of Sunday, August 26 through Friday, August 31, 2012.  The Symposium is jointly organized by the U.S. Office of Naval Research, Chalmers University of Technology and SSPA Sweden AB.
