Focus Topics

SAFER Focus topics

During its second year SAFER did strategic work involving all SAFER partners in the reference groups and management teams. In April and May 2008 the Board and the Shareholders meeting adopted six Focus Topics.

The six Focus Topics providing a strategic framework for our project content and competence are:

  • Incidents and accidents – priorities and effect analysis
  • Driver state/action/reaction
  • Prediction for accident prevention
  • Methods for evaluation of vehicle and traffic safety
  • Safety for novel vehicles and vehicle combinations
  • Human body models and biomechanics

Each of the Focus Topic has a short-term ambition level and a short- and long-term road map outlining present, planned and desired projects, enabling analysis also of our competence needs. A focus topic can include projects from different research areas, and one project can have impact on several focus topic.

Focus topic also guide the strategy for international collaboration, an important element in developing world class research. International conferences will be hosted when the projects and competence within in any focus area is judged to be sufficiently strong.

A cornerstone in the strategy is to have a multidisciplinary, collocated research environment at Lindholmen Science Park. To create a physical meeting place open to all partners that also contributes to the development of larger clusters at Lindholmen.
