On December 8th, 2008, an evaluation of SAFERs first stage was conducted by VINNOVA. The Stage 1 covers the three years 2006-04-01 to 2009-03-31.

During October 6-7th, 2010, an evaluation of SAFER was conducted by VINNOVA. The Stage 2 covers the three years 2009-04-01 to 2012-03-31.

VINNOVA has approved a continuation of SAFER, and thus SAFER will start Stage 3 on April 1st 2012. The Stage 3 covers four years from 2012-04-01 to 2016-03-31.
