FICA 2 - Factors Influencing the Causation of Accidents and Incidents

Short description:

FICA stands for Factors Influencing the Causation of Accidents and incidents. FICA is a national research project that through studies of accidents and incidents aims at identifying factors that influence the occurrence of accidents in traffic. This will form the basis for the development of new technical systems to prevent the occurrence of collisions, so called active safety systems.

Project manager:
Håkan Gustavsson, Volvo Car Corporation hgustaf1 at volvocars dot com

Partners:
Chalmers, Linköping University, Volvo Car Corporation, (Saab), AB Volvo, Trafiverket (the Swedish Transport Administration, Autoliv

Period:
2006-2010

Publications:

A conceptual framework for requirement specification and evaluation of active safety functions

A model of attention selection in driving

An analysis of common patterns in aggregated causation charts from intersection crashes

Developing Theoretical and Empirical Definitions of Safety Problems in Driving Suitable for Active Safety Function Evaluation

Effects of working memory load and repeated scenario exposure on emergency braking performance

Factors contributing to road fatalities - Analysis of in-depth investigation data from passenger car intersection crashes and from collisions between bicycles and motorized vehicles
