SAFER Electric Vehicles

Short description:

Hybrid and fully electric vehicles are increasing in the market share. As a result the electric motion actuators and control systems are becoming more developed. The focus of electric vehicle research (close to commercialization) is predominantly in the area of energy storage and optimization of energy consumption. The added flexibility of electric drive actuators can provide more vehicle dynamics functionality and it is this area in which the proposed SAFER activities are directed. The pre-study will define a project portfolio how vehicle dynamics functionality can be migrated in a safe way and improved for electric vehicles, what spin-off applications there are to electric vehicles (autonomous functions, active safety testing infrastructure, etc), and what research materials are needed to propel SAFER to a world leading position in this research area.
