Charmant (Strategic Research Center on Microwave Antenna Systems) is a strategic research center sponsored by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF), for five years starting in 2006. The granted funding from SSF is SEK 43 million. The center covers Microwave Antenna Systems in a broad sense, from the Antenna and its Near-Field, via Front-End Electronics to Signal Processing. The industrial interests are mainly in Wireless Communications, Radar Systems and medical applications of microwaves. The center is hosted by the Department of Signals and Systems (S2) at Chalmers, and involves participants from Microwave Electronics at Chalmers, as well as the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute (SP), and collaborative nodes at Lund University (LU) and Uppsala University (UU). The center has also 11 associated industrial partners.
