BioelectromagneticsResearch group leader
Professor Yngve Hamnerius E-mail: yngve.hamnerius@chalmers.se Phone: +46 31 772 19 05 The group conducts research on the effects of electromagnetic fields on biological and technical systems. The frequencies being studied range from DC to microwaves and important sources include power lines, video display units and mobile telephones. The biological effects of electromagnetic fields are studied both experimentally and theoretically, with a particular focus on interaction mechanisms. Electromagnetic treatment to extend the shelf life of foods, as well as the microwave heating of food is being studied in co-operation with the Swedish Institute for Food and Biotechnology (SIK). The group also conducts research on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) where the reduction of power frequency magnetic fields is being studied specifically using computer simulations and full-scale testing.
