Background

Companies within the mining industry perform exploration drilling in order to find new mineral resources. Currently, this process is associated with high investments and high risks mainly due to the extensive cost and time it takes to perform the analysis of the rock samples. Minalyze is developing instruments for analysis of rock samples for the exploration and mining industry. The analysis is based on a well-developed X-ray technology that can provide instant results on-site. Minalyze is currently developing the system comprising of hardware and software for performing the analysis of rock samples.

Purpose

The aim of this thesis is to generate feasible concepts of X-ray equipment called Minalyzer CS (Core Scanner) based on the first prototype Minalyzer SCS (Single core Scanner), for performing field analysis of rock samples in mining and exploration applications. The Minalyzer CS will be capable of analyzing multiple samples in a standard core box.
