Course description

The course give an overview of current metal cutting theories. It is based on a book “Metal cutting” by Trent at al. Each participant will present a selected part of the book and a subject within the field of metal cutting chosen by them self. Guest lectures will present their research within the field at 2-4 classes

Exam:  Approved presentations and presence and active participation in the other parts of the course

  • Heat in metal cutting
  • Cutting tool materials
  • Machinability
  • Coolants and lubricants
  • High speed machining
  • Modeling of metal cutting
