Johnny Karout

Johnny Karout received his B.E. in Computer Engineering (with distinction) from the Lebanese American University, Byblos, Lebanon in 2007 and his M.Sc. in Communication Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden in 2009. Since June 2009, he is pursuing his Ph.D. at the Department of Signals and Systems, Communication Systems and Information Theory Group, Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden, under the supervision of Professor Erik Agrell and Professor Magnus Karlsson. His research interests are in the broad areas of modulation and coding with a focus on optimizing modulation formats for intensity modulated channels. He is involved in teaching the "Introduction to Communication Engineering" course, which is part of the Communication Engineering Master's program. He is also the co-founder of the project "Optium" which is related to short-haul optical communications at Chalmers Innovation, a business incubator located in Göteborg, Sweden.
