Åsa Haglund received the M.Sc. degree in physics from Göteborg University Göteborg, Sweden, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, in 2005.

She was engaged in mode and polarization control in vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) using surface structures. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Photonics Laboratory, Chalmers University of Technology. Her current research interests include VCSELs and III-nitride-based light emitters.
