A. Serdar Tan was born in Erzurum, Turkey, in 1982. He received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey in 2009. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. His research interests include channel coding, synchronization and coherent optical communications.
