Research groups at Terahertz and Millimetre Wave Laboratory

Our research at the Terahertz and Millimetre Wave Laboratory is focused on new materials, devices and sub-systems for applications in the frequency range 10 GHz – 10 THz or the corresponding wavelength range 30 µm – 3 cm. This is an emerging part of the electromagnetic spectrum where optical and microwave techniques meet.

We fabricate novel devices in our state-of-the-art Nanofabrication facility and evaluate these in various circuit demonstrators. We carry out research on new materials for active and passive circuits. Our research finds applications in receivers and transmitters for future radar sensors, THz-imaging systems, radio astronomy and remote sensing, and future wireless communication systems.

The laboratory consists of two research groups

•    Emerging Microwave Technology Group (Prof Spartak Gevorgian)
•    Terahertz Technology Group (Prof Jan Stake)

We are part of the research centre on high-speed electronics and photonics supported by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (Stiftelsen för Strategisk forskning, SSF).  http://www.nt.chalmers.se/HSEP/
