Objective: The main objective of the project is development of tunable chirped delay lines for applications in optical and microwave communication systems. The project includes design, simulation, fabrication, and measurement activities. The project will be carried out in collaboration with Ericsson AB.
Detailed description: Chirped delay lines are characterized by linear frequency dependence of the delay time. Typically they are implemented as microstrip or coplanar waveguides with signal strips tailored width variation along wave propagation direction. A novel delay line will be tunable, enable applications in a wide ranges of microwave subsystems including simple and cost effective real time (instantaneous) spectrum analyzers, VCOs, equalizers for fiber optical and microwave communication systems, phased array antennas etc.
