Summer School on organic Aerosols

Organic aerosols are one of the most investigated topics in atmospheric science. We have by open invitation total 31 students (PhD students/early Postdocs) that will participate in a summer school on organic aerosols dealing with emissions, secondary formation, processing, physical properties of organic aerosols. There will be 6 lecturers providing overview lectures but the main program consists of the participating students presentations.

Locations of Summer school
June 22-25 : Gothenburg University on the Chalmers site: Kemivägen 10
June 26-28 : Kristineberg http://www.kmf.gu.se/en/

Financially supported by ACCENT, INTROP, GAC and PSI are acknowledged.

Workshop: Trafikemitterade partiklar
Date: 14 May, 2007
Time: 11.00-16.30
Venue: VTI- Göteborg, Lindholmen

The international work on air quality matters are facing new challenges. International agreements established 5-7 years ago are re-negotiated at the same time as new questions of greate importance arise - as for example questions of intercontinental transport, interaction between climate and air pollution as well as measures to simultaneously handle these matters. The new agenda on air quality offers a number of exciting research challenges on the behaviour and effects of atmospheric pollution in a changed climate, as well as possibilities for combined measures to combat climate and air pollution. During the seminar research questions of current interest will be addressed.

Workshop on local scale air quality modeling 2005
A one-day working workshop on local scale air quality modeling was organized by GAC at Earth Sciences Center, Göteborg University on 29 September.
The focus of the workshop was exploring the practical possibilities of getting the EMEP model working for local-scale problems, in particular for Göteborg. Besides 6 persons from GAC (Earth Sciences, Chemistry, and IVL) participated David Simpson and Peter Wind from EMEP MSC-W/DNMI and Massimo Vieno from University of Edinburgh in the workshop. The participants exchanged the experiences with various local scale models (TAPM, MM5, UM), discussed the technical details of coupling between EMEP and meteorological models, and identified future cooperation areas. Deliang Chen and David Simpson led the workshop.

Date: Wednesday 14 September 2005
Time: 10.15
Location: Room 4248 in the Chemistry building, Chalmers/Göteborg University
