Research activities

The research group Elementary Particle Physics pursues the quest for the fundamental laws of our university, its basic building blocks, and its interactions. In collaboration with the Mathematical Physics group they try to find the answers to these questions using so called superstring theory that combines particle physics with the theory of gravitation into one single framework. String theory is presently the single candidate for such a fundamental theory and major developments within this field have been achieved at Chalmers. Today, research within this area is being pursued all over the world and the two groups at Chalmers are coordinating the European Superstring Theory Network.
