The research at the department of Fundamental Physics is conducted within three research groups.

The Subatomic Physics group conducts a broad programme for studies of exotic nuclei in the vicinity of the neutron and proton driplines.

The Mathematical Physics and Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics groups are devoted to research in String/M-theory, quantum field theory and related topics.
