The course aims to provide a fundamental understanding of the chemistry and physics of polymers and focuses on the following topics: synthesis, characterisation, structure-property relationships and the physics of solutions and the solid state.
PhD course: Polymer Characterizations
This course is mainly for PhD students who have basic
knowledge about polymers. The main aim of this course is to introduce the
technologies for characterization of polymers. 6 credits are recommended for

Qiaonan Chen is a Post doctor in Ergang Wang
group at Chalmers since October 2020. Her research focus is on polymer solar
cell materials. She is now working on projects focusing on the design and synthesis
of single component non-conjugated D-A polymer as active layers for organic
solar cells; non-conjugated acceptor polymer materials.
Qiaonan obtained her B.Sc. in 2014 and PhD
degree in 2019 in Chemistry at Jilin University, China.
Birhan A. Abdulahi from 11/2020
Birhan A. Abdulahi pursued his PhD at Addis Ababa
University in July 2019. Birhan was a visiting PhD student and conducted part
of his PhD research at Chalmers University of Technology. Currently, he is a
postdoctoral researcher in Ergang Wang’s research group. His research interest
includes design, synthesis and characterization of organic molecules and
polymers for different optoelectronic applications.
Guijun Yang from 01/2022
Guijun Yang obtained her PhD degree in Inha University, South Korea in 2021 and joined Chalmers in 2022 by winning the Wenner-Gren Foreign Postdoctoral Fellowship. She is working on composites of conjugated polymers and 2D materials (graphene and MXene) for supercapacitors.
Ulises Mendez Romero from 11/2021
Ulises A. Médez-Romero received his BSc in nanotechnology
from Universidad de las Américas Puebla in Mexico in 2015. In 2017 he obtained
his MSc in materials science from Centro de Investigación en Materiales
Avanzados (Cimav) in Mexico. In 2017 he started a double doctoral degree in both
Cimav and Chalmers University of Technology, at Division of Applied Chemistry
under the supervision of Professor Ergang Wang. He remains as a postdoc in the same group after defending his PhD in Nov. 2021. His research is mainly focused
on the synthesis and functionalization of 2D materials and their application in
Wu exchange PhD
and Stable Organic Solar Cells Based on Novel Material Structure
I received my M.S. degree in Chemistry from Soochow
University in 2020. Currently, I am a PhD student in Aalborg University. My
research interests focus on the synthesis and application of organic
PhD student since 9/2021
His research focus is on the synthesis of conjugated materials and 2D materials for organic light-emitting electrochemical cells and supercapacitors. He is trying to use green chemistry and nature-derived materials for a sustainable future.
Tadele Tamenu is a PhD student at Addis Ababa Univerity and now a guest PhD student
in Ergang Wang’s group. His PhD research emphasizes designing, synthesizing,
and characterization of new conjugated organic materials for
