My research focuses on exploring ML/AI applications to reduce the energy consumption of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs). This includes predicting future driver behavior in order to optimize the Energy Management System (EMS), the speed along identified routes, the gear control, and the powertrain mode selection.
Due to the dynamics of the problem setting and the sequentially increasing amounts of data, the intention is to explore a combination of online and offline prediction methods.
The research project is financed by the Swedish Energy Agency (FFI) and is a collaboration between CEVT and the E2-, M2-, and CSE departments at Chalmers.
