Industrial doctoral student, Architecture and Civil Engineering, Applied Acoustics, Audio Technology

Peter is an industrial doctoral student at the Division of Applied Acoustics, research group Audio Technology, at Chalmers. He works with "problem"; in sound reinforcement and reverberation enhancement systems caused by acoustic feedback. Due to the risk of sound coloration and howlback phenomena, it is important to reduce and monitor the acoustic feedback from the system loudspeakers to the microphones. Therefore, a “coloration detector” is developed which is able to detect the sound coloration caused by the feedback, long before howlback phenomena occur. The detector operates using a microphone placed in the audience area and analyses the signal based on the statistical properties of the room.
