Nina Kann

Professor; Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry

Nina Kann is professor in organic chemistry, heading a research group involved in several areas such as green chemistry, asymmetric synthesis and organometallic chemistry. Research focus includes the synthesis of new chiral ligands for catalytic asymmetric transformations, and also method development using cobalt and iron carbonyl complexes, where the latter project has led to a new synthetic route to Tamiflu. A newly started project in green chemistry looks at alternative sources of carbon atoms for organic synthesis. Nina also teaches organic chemistry at the Bachelor and Master level.
