Gerard Masdeu Gámez

Post-doc, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Åkerman research group

Gerard Masdeu joined the Åkerman group in March 2018 as a postdoctoral researcher. His research focuses on the confinement mechanism of enzymes into mesoporous silica particles employing spectroscopic techniques to monitor such binding. The prepared immobilized biocatalysts are used in the reduction of carbon dioxide to methanol. An efficient and robust catalyst for this reaction is important in order to counteract the increased concentration of this gas in the atmosphere and convert it into a useful compound.
