Maria Massaro

Doctoral student, Technology Management and Economics

Maria Massaro is a doctoral student at the Division of Science, Technology and Society. Her research interests focus on the policy and regulatory aspects of radio spectrum.

She is currently looking at the so-called centralisation-decentralisation issue in radio spectrum policy in the European Union. Her aim is to gain a better understanding on the level of government at which decisions with regard to the use of radio spectrum are better located, i.e. at national or EU level.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management, in July 2011, and a master’s degree in Law and Economics, in November 2013, from Luiss Guido Carli University (Italy), both with honours (110/110 cum laude). In her master’s thesis, she investigated the assignment of the digital dividend spectrum band in Italy and the United Kingdom.

Before being employed as doctoral student, she worked as project assistant, in collaboration with well-known professors in the field of telecommunications policy.
