Linda de Vries

PhD student, Division of Design & Human Factors, Department of Industrial and Materials Science

Linda is a PhD candidate in the areas of Human-Technology-Design and Intelligent Transport Systems. Her research investigates the interaction between multi-disciplinary actors and their work systems in multimodal transport networks. It aims to facilitate the digitalisation of freight transport management in a co-design process with users and other actors in Living Lab environments, in other words by developing and evaluating digital solutions directly in the workplace.

Linda holds a Licentiate of Engineering in Shipping and Marine Technology which examines how maritime pilots and Vessel Traffic Services operators work to improve safety at sea. She is also an experienced vessel navigator and offshore surveyor, and has worked mainly in the North Sea/North Atlantic offshore oil and gas and renewable energy sectors.
Linda teaches in courses on Human Factors and Cognitive Ergonomics and is a supervisor for project work in the Human-machine systems course.
