Héctor Martínez-Ávila is a PhD student in the research group Biopolymer Technology. His research interests are within the field of cartilage tissue engineering, where he focuses on the development of bacterial nano-cellulose as a biomaterial for ear cartilage repair and regeneration. The goal is to provide an alternative clinical therapy to patients affected with auricular malformations caused by congenital disorders, tumors and trauma.
