Hans-Georg Scherneck

Associate Professor, Department of Space, Earth and Environment, Onsala Space Observatory, Space Geodecy and Geodynamics

Hans-Georg Scherneck, docent in space geodetic measurements, is involved in research and PhD-level education on geodynamics, in particular solid earth deformation, earth tides and glacial isostatcy. His most important work applied GPS techniques to measure the re-adjustment of Fennoscandia due to the recent deglaciation. He is also responsible for the gravimetric laboratory at Onsala Space Observatory. Here, his aim is to make the observations available in real-time to international service organisations, IRIS and EPOS.

In ground-level education Hans-Georg supervises in the department’s electrical measurements course lab.
