Industrial doctoral student; Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry; Martin Andersson Group

Annija Stepulane is an industrial PhD student conducting research on new and improved materials for biomedical applications, with special emphasis on antibacterial solutions. By utilizing material synthesis via surfactant self-assembly and surface modification tools, the overall goal is to develop biomaterials capable to meet clinical needs. The project focuses on elastomeric biomaterials and their modifications with antimicrobial peptides to deliver anti-infective properties, thus addressing the issues with biomaterial-associated infections and providing antibiotic-free solutions for curbing antibiotic resistance.
