The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, founded in 1739, is an independent organisation whose overall objective is to promote the sciences and strengthen their influence in society. Academy work is based upon the Academy's ten classes, each representing a scientific subject field.
Scientists from Chalmers are represented in five of the Academy classes: astronomy and space science, chemistry, engineering sciences, mathematics and physics. Chalmers is also represented in the Academy Board by Professor Anne-Marie Hermansson.
