Nuclear chemistry

This course will contain both theoretical and practical excersises dealing with ionising radiation and its detection and effect on matter. We will treat subjects ranging from the origin of the radiation,i.e. the instability of the nucleus to the detection and effect on ammater. In addition we will discuss different applications of ionising radioation such as e.g. environmental monitoring and medicine.

Prerequisites
General knowledge in chemistry corresponding to Kemi med biokemi (KOK041, General chemistry, 21 ECTS credits) and Fysikalisk kemi Bt (KFK162, Physical chemistry, 7.5 ECTS credits).
