Course description
This course will provide PhD students with fundamentals to measurement techniques applicable to the field of civil engineering. In the course the following topics will be handled:

        ·         Uncertainties  General aspects,

·         Concept and planning of measurement,

·         Selection of test methods - Quality vs costs,

·         Standardisation and accreditation,

·         Estimation of error and uncertainty,

·         Measurement instrument and calibration of instrument,

·         Organisation of inter-comparison tests,

·         Precision of test methods

·         Collection, analysis and treatment of data, and 


The problems and questions from students¿ own measurement experiments and studies will be discussed in the course.  .
