Photocontrolled biological functions

Here, we are aiming at the design of photochromic molecules that can be used to control biological functions. The isomerization-induced structural changes are harnessed to control the interactions with biologically relevant systems such as DNA, proteins, and cell membranes. Moreover, we are also targeting the binding to synthetic host molecules, aiming at photocontrolled drug-release.

The research program is associated to the SUPRA Linnaeus Centre.
